College Essays

Hello All,

I was wondering if someone can give me some feedback on college essays. Okay in my previous college essays, I always followed a structure that did quite well for me. I am actually returning to school for creative writing. Before when i was in school, I rushed though my courses not being able to enjoy them.

This time around I am returning for English. I want to be able to enjoy my writing courses and enjoy them as I am in my career. My general question, when writing an essay. The structure i followed, would have my first, second, and third paragraph in the essay match the three topics in my thesis that i was going to expand on. Then i would have my conclusion summarizing the essay.

What i want to know is, can i have more than one paragraph talking about the first topic, second topic, and third topic? I really always kept it to one paragraph but can i have more than one paragraph for each of my topics?

Thanks,

The five paragraph essay is a useful tool, but it is not at all the only way to structure an essay. In fact, it’s one of the least interesting ways, as it tends to be rather formulaic. If you are moving in the direction of creative writing, you would do well to abandon such a prescriptive writing style.

I’d recommend to focus on the main topic and talk about it in three paragraphs. Then make the summary and write a few words about the thesis. For me, it much easier to order an essay or whatever you need on ca.edubirdie.com. It’s always better when you have a lack of time. If I could have such opportunity while studying in university, I’d never miss it.
