If I have good ecs for sports (MVP, captain, etc) but only other things are Honors Society… work… volunteering… would it be a good idea for me to do student council??
<p>Yeah, I think that would be a good idea but it all depends on where you are applying. If you're applying to let's say Ivy League universities you have to do as much as possible beacause it is so competitive.</p>
<p>Admission committees like to see "passion" and long-term committment to one or two activities rather than a laundry list of activities with little involvement. The ones that are tagged special are Captain of teams, Editors of yearbooks/newpapers, and debate club. Having "member of student council" probably won't add much, but won't hurt. For the real selective schools, NHS is basically ignored unless you have a leadership position in it.</p>
