Hi.
I have a couple of questions.
I want to become an actuary and I am very interested in UPenn.
I heard that majoring in math is better then actuarial science.
Well, UPenn offers both an actuarial science major, and actuarial mathematics minor, and a math major.
What would be the best route to become an actuary?
Im willing to double major/major+minor, etc.

Thanks for everyones help.

All the info is here
[Undergraduate Program](http://irm.wharton.upenn.edu/undergrad.html)

If you are in Wharton you get a B.S. in Econ (business degree) and concentrate in actuarial studies. To do so you take 4 of the required classes.

If you are in SAS you can major in anything and you complete the actuarial mathematics minor.

Looking at the actuarial website stuff, it seems like it is easier to become an actuary in the college than in Wharton. You have more freedoms in the classes and you still become an actuary in the end. I have a friend that is an econ major an interested in becoming an actuary. He has an internship as a sophomore with an actuarial firm. If you want the best business connections then Wharton -> actuary is the better way to go. If you want to enjoy undergrad more, major in whatever you want and get the actuarial math minor.

Oh alright. Thank you.
Would I be able to do this:
Apply as a math major with a minor in actuarial math. After freshman year, switch majors to econ with a concentration in actuarial science in Wharton?

it’s possible to do but it’s hard. You need like a 3.8+ in the college to get into Wharton.

Thank you.
Any other advice?

Where did you see an actuarial science major? I have only seen actuarial science as a minor, or concentration if in Wharton. Either way, I am an incoming freshman interested in becoming an actuary and I am planning to major in mathematics with a minor in actuarial science.
