Hey everyone,

I would like to explore the possibilities of majoring in Actuarial Science and see that UPenn is a plausible candidate as they offer it at their school.

If/When I apply to the university, would be be wise/possible to select an exact major before I enroll if accepted.

And, if I did declare that I wanted to major in this field (since I assume it's in demand for students) would that increase my chances of getting in?

Thanks.

sorry, there is no actuarial science major; there is a minor, but no specific major.

the closest major is wharton’s insurance and risk management concentration.

no, there is actually an actuarial science concentration in Wharton. actuarial mathematics is what you’re thinking about, tenebrous

i don’t know much else about this though, sorry.

Wharton has an actuarial concentration. If you aren’t in Wharton you can minor in actuarial sciences. Check out the website: [Undergraduate Program](http://irm.wharton.upenn.edu/undergrad.html)

One of my friends is minoring in actuarial sciences and has had great internship offers so far, too early for job offers. I talked to one girl who concentrated in actuarial sciences and finance and she has a pretty good job in finance. Penn has a very strong program and they reimburse you for your tests. You have to decide if you want to study business in Wharton or if you want a more traditional liberal arts undergrad and major in math or econ in SAS.

ooh, my mistake

well, in any case, the original poster has to apply specifically to wharton in order to do the concentration, but can be in any school to do the minor
