I have a few questions to ask about apps:
1.) If you do apply to lots of colleges, and write one essay thats really good, would I be able to copy that same essay and use it on all my apps?
2.) Could I copy my letters of recommendation from my counselors/teachers as well?
3.) How do you get your fee waivered? Does the waiver affect adcoms' decision in any way at all?

1) Possibly. Most college apps give you a list of topics you can write about, but many also give a "write your own topic" option. But -- if you do choose the independent topic prompt, it better be reaally good!

2) Yes. Just make sure to copy the letters BEFORE they sign them, so they can actually sign each letter. Also, make sure if they mention any school name in the letter, it's changed for each copy!

3) I think you can ask guidance for a "letter of fee waiver," but I believe the most orthodox method is to get a waiver through College Board? (Unsure on this one, maybe someone else can help...)

1) It depends on the college. I wrote five essays and applied to five colleges, using different combinations of those essays for the colleges. You might not get away with one essay, since some colleges require two. But maybe you could get away with writing two essays. Especially with Common App.
2) Most teachers write general recs that can be used for any college. But some do specific letters and others do very very specific letters, bringing up the college's strong points and matching them to the student. But most teachers don't do that and, if they do, it's only for your top choice school. So it's most likely that your teachers will write general recs.
3) Different schools have different fee waiver policies but usually you get a letter from you GC stating your need. I'm not sure if it can affect your decision, but I doubt it. If you really don't need the waiver, then they'll deny it.

i got away with writing a single essay and adapting them to every prompt somehow! :)

...except for the "Why us?" prompts.

I loved the why Us prompts. So easy and it gave me a chance to express why I love all those universities! ,g>

I only had to do one "why us" and it was for my #1 school so I didn't have any problems. But I feel like if I'd had to do more, they would have been really similiar to each other.
