Questions about college prerequisites

Ok, so summer before senior year, my schedule still isn't figured out and I'm starting to get worried.

Here's the deal, my first two years of high school I was able to take classes fine, everything fit, and for science I took Honors Integrated Science, then Honors Bio (both with lab). So that's 2 units of science, and two units of lab. Junior year, it was literally impossible for me to take any of the science classes our school offered. I couldn't even fit in meteorology. I think it might have gotten so messed up because I skipped a year of English and I take a lot of classes that are only offered one period a day. So that wasn't a huge problem since our school has Virtual High School. I signed up with that early enough and took Honors Bioethics and Honors Oceanography. (I had to take kind of weird classes because we can't take classes that the school offers even if we can't take them at the school because of conflicts).

So, this year I signed up for AP Environmental Science. It turned out, that once again that wouldn't work I tried to sign up on VHS but I found out about the conflict too late and classes were full.

Here's where I am now. I managed to get into a one semester VHS class, Honors Environmental Chemistry. So I will have 3.5 years of science with two years of lab. On I guess the plus side, I might be filling the semester gap with some kind of social studies, so I will have 4 full years of social studies.

My dilemma is that many of the colleges I'm applying too recommend (some even say they require) 4 years of science or 3 years of lab science. Are they simply going to toss out my application because I'm missing a semester of science or because I had to take classes online?

I'm not planning to major in science, I want to go for International Relations and Russian. All my other courses are strong. 4 years of French, 4 years of social studies, 4 years of English, 4 years of music, 4 years of math, 2 years of PE, an EMT class, Sports Med, and Music Theory.

Thanks for taking the time!
