I'm starting to pack for my first year at UCI, and I had a few questions about the dorms on campus:

Is there a full-length mirror provided? There was when I was at SPOP in Middle Earth, but I'm not sure if that was just because of the room I was in.

Do the dorms have carpets? For the life of me, I can't remember. I was thinking about buying a swiffer for spills and such, but there's no point if it's not a wood floor.

Do the beds in Mesa have as much room underneath as the beds in Middle Earth?

Do the rooms come with a locking drawer for valuables?

I think that's all my questions, for now. Input would be very much appreciated :)

in mesa, my room did not come with a full length mirror but all the other rooms in my suite had one. i guess i just had the lucky room where it got stolen or removed or something haha. most rooms should have one though

yea, the dorms have carpet

under my bed in mesa i had three pull out drawers that were really useful because you could store things in it without everybody seeing what’s under your bed.

no, there is no locking drawer that i can recall

I remember there was a full-length mirror in Middle, but I hear it’s not in every room.
There’s carpet
I think Mesa has drawers underneath the bed unlike Middle, which has a lot of empty space.
No locking drawers.

The newer desks have one locking drawer (you need your own lock).

Some people have already offered up their answers, but I thought… might as well share my experience.

I had a single in Otero- it was bigger than all the other singles (by almost 200%) so I was pretty lucky. That being said, there was no full length mirror. Instead, there was a bookshelf with a mirror over it. If you’re in Otero or Prado, they have a whole mirrored wall on the second story by the kitchen so no worries if you don’t have a mirror in those halls. I always went out and checked my outfits in there. A bit awkward, but what’s college without awkwardness :P. Most rooms, however, do have a full length mirror.

The rooms have carpets but it’s a really thin carpet.

In my opinion, the beds in Mesa don’t have nearly as much space as the ones in Middle. The reason for this is they put drawers under the bed instead of just leaving it empty. I’d say there’s about half of the space under the bed that can’t be used because it’s blocked off. It does look slightly better than just being open though. :).

My room didn’t have locking drawers but I’m not sure if that was standard since I was in a single.
