Questions about early deposit to accept scholarships

I know I have seen threads on this in the past but my search skills are failing me. My D has been offered a nice scholarship at Michigan; one problem is that they are requesting she accept the scholarship by 2/15 (i.e., pay a deposit). D was also offered a full tuition scholarship at Pitt w/chance to compete for med school guarantee there. One problem- she hated Pittsburgh. She is also waiting for RD at a number of selective schools including our state flagship (U.Va.) which would be considerably cheaper but we won't know until 4/1.

I feel that it would be wrong to accept the Michigan scholarship and not withdraw her other applications, but at the same time, wonder if there isn't a way to gain some flexibility in having to commit so early. I don't know if we'll receive any other aid from Michigan - our son is also in college now. Potentially, other schools could have better FA packages- but if she wasn't accepted to any of them, then she would be going to Pitt.

I'm sure someone has dealt with this issue before and would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks.

If she were able to commit now great, but since she wants to weigh her options, you can ask Michigan for an extension. I think this is a pretty common request made to schools that ask for an early deposit and they are very used to granting extensions. It sounds like she will have some great offers, good luck.
