Hi! I applied for USC, and am from Michigan. Will USC accept multiple people from one high school? I know of a couple of other people from my school that are applying, and I was just wondering if having multiple people from my school apply would hurt my chances. Will they accept multiple as long as grades/stats are up to par? I have taken the ACT 4 times, and my best is a 33 (worst is 26… I improved each time but I was reluctant to send all my scores). My GPA is around a 4.3.
Also, I am applying to the honors college, but I am not sure if I can get in. What are the best dorms on campus? If I am not accepted into honors, I think I could have a chance at Capstone, but am not sure how I feel about the dorms for the program. I am planning on studying business, and I like the idea of South Quad (which is where the business learning community is), but I am curious to know what people who know more would say.
U of SC is a safety for you for admission, no matter how many students from your school apply.
Your stats give you a very good chance at the Honors College, but the essays will be critical. There are two or three that are exclusively for SCHC admission. Take your time with them.
Capstone seems a little remote in terms of location, but the students who live there seem to like it. If you are accepted into that program, seriously consider it, despite the dorm. There’s a nice sense of community there (actually more so than the Honors Residence, which is newer and has a prime campus location, but didn’t seem as friendly to my D and her friends, who spent a decent amount of time hanging out at Capstone). No matter which dorm you live in first year, you will likely move to 650 Lincoln (Business LLC) or off campus as a sophomore, so don’t agonize about it.
@LuckyCharms913 Do you think my first 3 ACT scores (26, 28, 29) will hurt my admissions/scholarships/honors college chances? That is my biggest worry.
No way of knowing, but can’t see why it would matter. Your lower ACT scores are still quite good scores, and the 33 is excellent. You were asked to send all scores, and you did, right? So try to stop worrying.
