Questions about mailing transcripts =]

Hey everyone. When you get your transcript mailed to U of M, do you have to include anything (like a letter, etc) so that they know its for your application? Or will the person who opens it know what to do with it? Kinda worried because I go to 2 high schools and a community college, and I want to make sure they get everything.

Also, they won't start looking at my app until they get all 3 transcripts correct? They'll open my app, see that I go to 2 HS's and a CC, and wait for all of the transcripts. Is this correct?

Thanks so much!

If your community college classes are not extra classes ( like you have normal high school classes, with extra cc etc…) then they may wait. If you have a normal high school schedule, if you wish not to mail them classes from your cc ( since it’s like extra) you may not have to release that data like stats etc… though other information may be required. Likely the cc classes will only help.

Yeah, I can’t really answer the question, I think it varies. Though usually, they may just wait for all the transcripts. I say it depends on the situation.

yosup, in my s’s case he’d had an answer from them based on his main HS transcript before they even saw anything from dual enrollment at one college and one university. The only reason they knew he was taking those courses was b/c he told them in the supplemental info. If some of your college courses, etc. aren’t presently ON you HS transcript, just tell them in supplemental. Truly it will not delay a decision in most cases. The college courses are only used to give advanced standing.
And YOU don’t send the transcript usually, your HS counselling office does, often with the counselor recommendation. They collate it all, no worries.

In anything you DO send them, ALWAY USE YOUR UM-ID#. It will get to your file faster and reduce the possibility of error.

Also, make sure you’ve requisitioned with your MAIN HS to send the recc/transcript well before nov. 1 for the earliest decision.

Cheers,
K

^ Okay thanks. In my case, I dual enrolled because I had to take French classes to fulfill my foreign language requirement, so I want to make sure they know I took those classes.

You get your UM-ID when you apply, right? How can I add my UM-ID on transcripts? I’m not allowed to open em, and usually my school just sends it directly to U of M.

Certain mail UM sends out have a ID on it for the student, if you have not recieved such mail then you can not use a ID when applying. Though after all information have been submitted, they will then give you a ID if you never had one. So no, you can’t place UM ID on transcript until you’ve actually applied.

In case this user above post may confuse anyone,

University of Michigan states on their website:https://umich.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/umich.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=475&p_created=1063735072&p_sid=9IoDUgIj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9OCw4JnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0wJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9dW5pdmVyc2l0eSBvZiBtaWNoaWdhbiBpZA!!&p_li=&p_topview=1</a></p>

Lol, what does an asterisk have to do with Asian Studies o_O

Anyways, I received 3 letters and a few emails from them, and I don’t remember seeing a UM ID. Oh well, who cares o_O If I just mail the transcript to them, they should know what to do with it I hope…

I recieved mail from UM recently ( summer), didn’t see a University of Michigan ID either. Though after re-reading what’s listed on UM website, look on the outside evelope of your mail, above your name there is a number ( as I’ve just notice with mines today) and perhaps that is an ID. If it is a ID I would definately use it to help process your application faster.

Oh wow, I always try to save the mail I get from universities. Perhaps soon, one day, after i know what university I’m attending, I’ll get all the mail and see what can be recycled, which I doubt many could be.

Too late for me. I threw out my mail =[ Ah well…

lol, I must have missed something, what’s the deal with the asterisks?

I used double asterisks in a thread that I started, pointing out the forum rules which people were violating by ridiculing my posts. The thread has been deleted by the moderator because I requested that the rude posts be deleted (I also requested to warn the offenders), and the thread has been littered with ridiculing/discourteous comments.

Here’s how I used the double asterisks:

Courtesy.
At College Confidential, we expect discussion to be courteous even when disagreement may be vigorous. When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone. Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. It’s fine to disagree with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. Also, note that messages express the thoughts of the writers, not the community, its owners, staff, or moderators. Visitors who post discourteous messages* will be warned; repeat offenders will lose posting rights.*

I used double asterisks inside the single asterisks for extra emphasis within the emphasized passage. Bearcats didn’t get it and is using it differently. He didn’t get the message neither, because he poked fun at my posts three more times after the “Be nice people” thread.

Here’s another passage from the Rules:

[rules]General Behavior.

Our forum is expected to be a friendly and welcoming place, and one in which members can post without their motives, intelligence, or other personal characteristics being questioned by others. Members who post in a manner that makes other members unwelcome or uncomfortable, or who conduct themselves in a manner in any way detrimental to the College Confidential community, will lose posting privileges. [/rules]

This is what several posters have been doing to me.

My motives, intelligence, and other personal characteristics has been assumed to be less than respectable.
I was made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable by being made fun of in several of my threads.

" If you graduate from Umich but have no facebook
Can you still get a job? "

Please take me seriously guys… My last question wasn’t that stupid…

Bearcats continues to make fun of me.

From the rules: “Visitors who post discourteous messages will be warned; repeat offenders will lose posting rights.”

“Members who post in a manner that makes other members unwelcome or uncomfortable, or who conduct themselves in a manner in any way detrimental to the College Confidential community, will lose posting privileges.”

If the rules are to be strictly followed, he should lose posting rights.

sure… It’s so hard to start a new account

btw…triple asterisks …that’s a new one

Does asking a stupid question give you leave to make fun of the person’s stupidity?
