Questions about pursuing a Film Production Major (currently a CA high school junior)

Hello everyone, I am currently a HS junior who is interested in pursuing a major in film production. I really love film-making but my experience is only limited to a few amateur shorts and videos for school projects. I am looking into these schools for film production: USC, Chapman, NYU, UCLA, LMU, UCSC, UCSD CSU Long Beach, CSU Northridge, and CSU Fullerton. It's too bad that most UC's only offer majors in film studies rather than emphasizing hands-on production.

That being said:
What are my chances for these schools and what steps do I need to take to improve my chances?
Which of these schools are best for film production and can best help me enter the film industry?
Which of these schools require more than just an application (I know USC, NYU, and Chapman require creative portfolios, but what about the rest?)

My grades and test scores are decent (could obtain a 4.1 weighted gpa)
Also, I am Asian-American if that makes a difference. Old brother goes to a private school so my parents are a little cash-strapped.

Check out this first thread at the top, Advice to Future Film Production Majors, some really good advice.
Good grades and test scores will get you some aid at those expensive privates, but all the top schools are competitive admits. Follow digmedias advice to improve your chances greatly. The advantage to UC’s and CSU’s in LA is the chance to work on fellow student’s sets, and then make those contacts to work for then once they graduate.
