I'm deciding between UCLA regents and Rice University (which gave me a scholarship so the two cost around the same).
I'm under the computer science/engineering majors for both right now, but i'm interested in different fields and might switch.

How good are Rice's cs, public health, and space science programs, compared to UCLA if possible?

I'd probably want to work on the West Coast after graduation, preferably California; would the Rice degree still carry weight outside of Texas? The Rice campus did not seem as active as UCLA's, do Rice students go out into Houston a lot?

If your prospect workplace is in California, then I’d guess maybe UCLA would be it. On the other note, Rice is a great and prestigious school. I think whichever you choose will be good.

LOL, no the Rice campus is not as active as UCLAs. I believe UCLA has what, about 3-4x the number of students of Rice… more people = more activity :-).

@avocadobomb California is one of the best states outside of Texas for a Rice degree to carry weight. Rice has a very innovative and impressive CS program, with awesome professors (I’m a CS major so ask me any questions you have if you haven’t already chosen or if you chose Rice!) The space science program has close ties with NASA, and in terms of health sciences, Rice is next to the largest medical center in the world. With regards to research, internship activity, and student life, Rice’s campus is very vibrant and active. It is admittedly smaller than UCLA, but I have heard first-hand accounts from transfer students from larger universities on how the smaller size is beneficial for social life and academic and professional opportunities.
