Questions about selecting a major while applying as a freshman

<p>So I'm applying as a freshman and it asks me to select a major.</p>

<p>1) EECS is not select-able and says "Major Closed". What dose this actually mean? This was my intended major.</p>

<p>2) If I select something under the College of Engineering, does that make it more difficult for me to get admitted?</p>
