Hi I have to ride the Hayward to Davis Amtrak for orientation this sunday, but I’ve never rode it before.
I was wondering if its like bart where I have to transfer busses or if it just goes straight to Davis station in one train.
also, how far is the Amtrak from the college campus? do I need to catch a seperate bus to get to Tercero area?
Any help would be appreciated. thanks~

I took Amtrak to Davis for my transfer orientation back in June with no problems at all, it’s really easy.

As long as you’re taking the Capitol Corridor, it’s a one-shot ride with no transfers. I think the Capitol is the only route that goes through Hayward (all the others stop at Oakland) so you’re good on that count.

When you get to Davis (or when you get close, if you have a cel phone on you) you can give a call to the Orientation desk at (530) 752-5190 and they’ll send a van for you that will take you directly to Tercero.

2a. I’m not sure if that service will be running on Sunday (I couldn’t find specific information on the [orientation webpage](http://orientation.ucdavis.edu)), but if it’s not Unitrans (the bus lines run by UCD students) offers a [Sunday Amtrak Shuttle](http://unitrans.ucdavis.edu/services/). It’s $1 to get to campus; once you have your student ID you ride for free. According to the website it’s “anywhere in Davis”, so “take me to Tercero” should be easy enough.

2b. If you’re arriving at some odd hour and can’t make other arrangements, you can call up [a taxi](http://daviswiki.org/Taxi_Services) or (worst case) just walk. Amtrak is [really close to campus](<a href=“Content Not Available | Caltrans”>Content Not Available | Caltrans), and you should be able to find a competent campus map on the UCD website somewhere.

Best of luck! Feel free to ask more questions, I’m going to be commuting via Amtrak every day once Fall starts, so I’ve gotten quite familiar with the service. :D
