Questions about the Global Business Honors Program and my chances of success without it

Unfortunately, I wasn’t invited. Yes, I know only around 20 students are offered. But I can’t help but hope maybe it’ll come in the mail or something. I read my acceptance letter online. I can’t even find where it tells me how much financial aid I’m getting, but I read somewhere that others were still waiting for their financial aid even though they got their acceptance letters, too. (Q1: When should I expect my financial aid?) Q2: And since my acceptance letter online didn’t mention anything about being accepted into the honors program, does that mean there’s no chance? Q3: What are my chances of getting into the Big Four without being in any honors program and just being another Accounting student?

My sister is in a leadership program at another school, but it’s a small university ranked around the lower 100’s in terms of US News college rankings, while Fordham is #58. However, through her leadership program, she was able to get an internship during the summer of her sophomore year, a different internship a year later, and just this year was accepted into a summer internship with the Big Four, which basically means she’ll get a job there after she graduates. Speaking of, Q4: how early will I probably be able to get an internship?

Honestly, I probably shouldn’t be as devastated as I am right now at not being accepted into the Global Business Honors Program, of which only 20 students are a part of. I do pretty well at school, but this rejection is just another reminder of how being “okay” isn’t good enough and it’s stressing me out, haha. My sister once told me she was so glad she didn’t attend a bigger but slightly better school because she’d rather be a big fish in a small pond, than the same-sized big fish in an ocean (or something like that). I read online that 1 in 5 business students from Fordham are accepted into the Big Four. But I’m left wondering if that 20% is just the entire Global Business Honors Program class.

Ever since I got accepted, I’ve fallen in love with Fordham even more. But without the Global Business Honor Program, I feel like it’d be even harder to stand out and have an impressive background to offer prospective employers. I don’t want to be just another number. I can just imagining going to an interview. Q5: Which would be more impressive? Saying that I graduated from Fordham, or saying that I was part of a leadership program at a smaller, slightly lesser-known school? What are your thoughts on this?

I’d love to hear honest feedback from some business students. And I sincerely hope no one is offended. I know Fordham is a very selective school, and I’m honored to have been accepted in the first place.

Were you accepted to Lincoln Center or Rose Hill Gabelli?

@ds0501 Rose Hill, why?
