Hi, I understand that students take placement tests for courses such as chemistry and math to see where they are. I was wondering if I could take a lower level of class even though I place high in chemistry? If I placed in chem31X, can i still choose to take Chem31A? Thanks guys.

Of course you can always take a lower class if you want to. For example, many people I know took Math 41 even though they could place out of it with BC Calculus. From what I hear, Chem 31X is pretty tough, so it may be advisable to take 31A and 31B unless you're desperately in a rush to complete the sequence.

oh okay that's awesome. thx for the info~.

or you could skip 31x altogether and take 33 in the winter.

That's true, but if you want to be pre-med, med schools require a year of general chem (AP credit doesn't count) so it would be wise to take one of the 31 sequences.
