Questions about TOP bs/md

Alright, so I took the SAT and got a 2050, with a 7 on the writing. I took the ACT and got a 34 with an 8 on the writing. I really want to go to a top BS/MD (brown, northwestern, rice, usc, etc.) and thusly am planning on taking subject tests in addition to the ACT. My dad is adamant about the idea that sending an ACT with SAT subject tests will look fishy to people in admissions and would keep me from getting in, therefore he is suggesting I retake the SAT. I really don't see how that would make a difference, but I'm curious nonetheless. I know that my SAT is weak and my ACT is pretty strong. In addition I heard that if you send in your SAT subject tests your SAT automatically goes with it. I'm wondering whether its worth it to retake the SAT (or maybe even the ACT) for the sake of admission

I understand that there is more to admissions than tests but I am referring only to this aspect in this situation.

the SAT score report is one sheet. when you send one report to a college, ALL the scores of ALL the SATs you’ve ever taken will be on that one sheet.

I suggest to retake the SATs, I went up 160 points the second time I took it.

Although, it took a lot of studying to accomplish that, but it is doable.

i had the exact same question about sending me SAT score with a low CR score, 2130 overall, with 800 math, and my ACT score if it looks better in reading. Any idea if a college will look at one or both or just think I am losing it? :-)

best bet is to call the admissions office and ask them yourself. a lot of colleges take your best SAT score, so they might take the better score when it comes to ACT or SAT.

Nevis,
You need to research if your schools participate in scorechoice. If they don’t you will have to send ALL your scores, all SAT’s all ACT’s
