Questions about Transfer CC to Engineering

I currently have 28 credits at my local community college with a 3.2 GPA. My program is a standard Associates of Science General Studies.

My intention is to transfer to a decent engineering 4-year as a junior. However, in order to meet the apparent requirements for most schools' transfer admission, I would have to take a bunch of prerequisites just to get into courses such as Calculus and Physics.

My CC offers a Computer Science Honors degree program. Would it be wise to switch to this degree once I meet all the prerequisites? If I did, I would have probably over 76 credits upon completion. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Also, my GPA is sort of low right now. If I were able to finish with a 3.6, could I expect to be competitive when applying to schools like UCONN, Berkeley, Virginia Tech? Maybe Harvey Mudd?
