(I posted this in the college life forum too, just in case this looks familiar lol.)
I talked to my dad about transferring from my current university (a private 4 year) to either a different 4-year university or a 2-year community college. He seemed pretty open and understanding (it’s just my mom who isn’t…). But he said if I transferred, I’d have to transfer to a 4-year college, which I’m fine with. My two options are either Cal Lutheran, which I’m hoping I can transfer into after this semester (probably not though), or Long Beach (but the thing is, with Long Beach, they don’t accept lower division transfers, so I would HAVE to transfer as a junior). I’d either transfer at the end of this year or at the end of my sophomore year. Which option do you think is better though? Transferring after 1 semester here at my current university, finishing the whole year and then transferring sophomore year to CLU, finishing sophomore year then transferring to CSULB, or transferring from my university to a community college, spending a year / year and a half there, and then going to CSULB? Also, how would all the credits transfer over? Are these just dumb ideas? I really don’t want to stay in my current university though. And my dad understands that, it’s just that my mom doesn’t. But I told him to talk to her and hopefully, she’ll listen to him better than she does to me.
Oh and I got into CLU last year when I applied as a hs senior & got some scholarships from there. I don’t think they’d give those back though. But do they have any scholarships for transfers?
OH. And I have AP credits. I passed AP Lang, AP Lit, APUSH, and AP Gov/Politics. How do these factor in? My current university has an honors program which I’m in that lets me skip GE’s though, so I have no idea how this works out. I could always take summer school classes to fulfill CLU GE requirements, though. My parents already said I could take classes over the summer.
