questions about Trinity..

Hello..

I am an intl transfer student and am thinking about apply to Trinity.

However, I don't have much information about Trinity and Hardford cuz LACs are not much famous in my country.

How's Trinity and Hardford???

How's Trinity's student body??...how about the curriculum??
(I am planning to go to a law school after I graduate from undergrad)

Isn't Hardford is one of the boring places??
(I am pretty worried about that cuz one of my american friends says Colgate is located in one of the boring places in NY.)

and how's the weather in Hardford??

plz give me some information...:)

Trinity is a pretty decent school with a thriving international population. I would recommend it.

Hartford is not a boring place, because its actually the 44th largest metropolitan area in the United States (over 1 million people in the metro area, over 100,000 in the central city). Colgate's location is much different than Hartford's. However, many people complain about Hartford's other qualities. The central city itself is one of the poorest in America, and the amenities just surrounding Trinity is not college town like at all (an almost completely residential spanish-speaking population). Crime is not uncommon in certain parts of the city...That being said, I live off campus and love it in Hartford. Not only is there plenty to do (if the college itself doesn't suffice in entertainment, which it probably will), but it is also very close to Boston and New York, with transportation to each city available almost 24/7. The weather in Hartford is basically like New York or Boston's weather...hot summers and cold winters, with moderate amounts of precipitation year round. Hartford is relatively warm for New England, but it's cold compared to most of the United States.

The student body is very preppy, and this is probably one of Trinity's least admirable qualities. Expect to see a lot of baseball caps in class and even more apathy. That being said, there are thriving international and alternative communities.

If you want to go to law school, Trinity is fantastic, because its prelaw program is extremely well developed and one of the more rigorous majors.

Do you mean the student body is snobby??

and do many Trinity students go to top law schools??
(I wanna go to NYU law school.)

and is Trinity close to NYC??...
How much time to take go to NYC by car/bus or train etc??

and I wanna to live off campus if I get admitted.
How much time to go to school usually if I live off campus on foot or bus???

I wouldn't say our student body is snobbish--although it gets this unwarranted reputation from some of the college books. Im not preppy, and I've easily found a group of kids to hang out with. That being said, the students are definitely preppy, and many (not all by any means) are very well-off.
Trinity is definitely a good feeder school to law schools, but only if you end with a high GPA. Otherwise, law schools rightfully assume that you prob. spent too much time partying on vernon st. and not enough time in the library. Trinity students work hard, but they also love to party, so maintaining a solid GPA is important as it indicates which avenue (work/play) you took in college. Personally, I have found that this school is perfect for people that work hard and have the will-power to resist going out too much but like to unwind on a fri and/or sat night.
We are about a 2.25 hour drive from NYC, and a 1.25 hour drive from Boston.
Living off campus freshman yr. is unheard of, but is otherwise common and usually done so willingly.

hi,I'm an international student and I will apply to Trinity next year for sure.
SAT II is recommended to Trinity but if I don't take it,will that lower my chance?

I dont kno any intl who didnt give SAT IIs. So, its definitely an advantage and I am sure you can pull better than Trinity average.

what do you think accepted students like me should do to prepare for the freshman year at Trinity?
i'm an international student so it'll be perfect if you can give me some more advice for intl students:D
