Hello!

I will begin applying to schools this fall, and at present, UCLA is my top choice. I have a few questions about the School of Arts and Architecture, and am hoping someone here can answer them for me:

Just how selective is UCLA Arts? I've seen numbers from eight-percent to "the same as the overall acceptance rate" -- i.e. 22%.

As I've said, UCLA is my top choice, and I'm not sure I want to risk being rejected because I applied to the School of Arts and Architecture instead of Letters and Sciences. An option I've considered is to apply to Letters and Sciences as a Japanese major, and then try for a Japanese-Design/Media Arts double-major after a year or two. Ignoring the immense workload (I'll be double-majoring no matter what), is this possible? If so, how difficult would it be to get into the Design/Media Arts program as a sophomore or junior?

Thank you for your time!!
