What kind of effect do updates to the college have on admissions (like annoying, helpful, minimal, depending?), from Jan. 1st to now, and is there any use in updating information this late in the game?

Significant updates about major honors or awards are always helpful (think Intel or Siemens Semifinalist or Finalist etc). I imagine pretty much all decisions have been made though, as last year Harvard finished deliberations on March 19th. (Admissions needs to give the financial aid office a week or two to look over each student’s CSS Profile and FAFSA data and create financial aid award letters that will be sent to all students who applied for aid along with their acceptance letter.) So, at this point in the process, there’s not much an update will do right now.

Do you think it helped or hurt me in that:
a. I sent an update in late January about placing 5th at a regional FBLA economics event (since it was such a minor award)

and

b. I haven’t sent any updates since then…?

Sigh, at this point I’m just stressing out over every action/non-action that has possibly hurt me, drawing invisible connections all over the place…

I honestly have no idea if your update helped your chances. I know it’s difficult to do, but try not to stress out too much. Best of luck to you!
