I’m about to start my freshman year in high-school and was planing on taking AP French next year. This should be a breeze as I am fluent in french; however in addition to this I plan on taking another AP. I would prefer to take a rather easy AP to begin with, but my favorite APs (Math & Science) all appear to be quite difficult. Is there one that might be easier than the rest? Or am I better of going with more run of the mill self study APs such as US Gov. or Envi. Sci?
I’m new here so any and all suggestions are vastly appreciated. Thanks.
I would probably want to take at least AP stats and AP chem however i do know that these could be quite difficult to self study.
Why can’t you just take a normal AP class at your school or wait until you are a year older? Are you aiming for a public university that is really generous with AP credit?
My school provides 4 AP courses: 2 English, Biology, and European History. These can only be taken junior and senior year, therefore in the meantime I plan on self studying at least 1 a year in addition to French. Also what do you mean “generous with AP credit”
The only point in self-studying AP classes is to get credit you can use in college. It doesn’t do you much good for admissions. You should look at what some of the colleges of your potential choice accept as scores for AP tests and which AP tests they accept.
I would suggest courses like; AP Psychology, AP Macro Economics, AP Micro Economics
Since you live in France and French is your primary language what do you think the benefit of taking the AP French exam is?
I would worry more about the classes you are actually taking than self studying APs. That really doesn’t help as much in the admissions process. Do French Universities give you credit for AP exams like they would in the US?
AP scores do matter to tippy top adcoms. It’s self studying that can be iffy, as you’re missing the class. That includes an AP in a language you speak fluently. Did you know? This is the problem with a rising 9th grader barreling ahead and making “plans,” before researching what the colleges say.
Do you live in the US or a French speaking country?
What’s your 9th grade schedule?
