Questions?/Concerns?

what's nice is the 3 digs come back at the end of BCT and they typically come talk with you normally, give you candy, play music loud for you. They really help you feel good after BCT, especially right before Acceptance day. I especially liked being able to borrow cell phones to call home after BCT, that was a treat for sure.

Does anyone know when we can expect to get the official notification of our appointment? I think I remember G4C saying that he got a leatherbound notice or something once he signed the offer of appointment. My status on the website says "Appointment Accepted"... but I'm still listed as a candidate... hmm...

waittt geez heh

The site will list you as a candidate for a while. After you fill out a bunch of paperwork and make everything official, you should get a blue folder with your actual appointment certificate in it. It didn't come for me until right before I left...maybe a month before.

Oh...and yes...most 3 degrees will be the closest thing you have to a friend after Basic...but then they get tough on you by the time recognition comes around. When you guys come, we'll have just finished our first year, so we'll be more sympathetic than anyone else...anyone in my squadron next year can come talk to me anytime about anything. :)

G4C is definitely right. You will be confused by the 3 digs. They will be cool and relaxed for awhile, then they will start becoming tougher, but you won't know where to stand. It has caused me grief because I have no idea where they are. All I can say is I will be consistent, open, and motivating. I will hope yall get some like that!

that's interesting because i have a brother in naval ROTC at texas a&m, and really the sophomores train the fish the most there, they're basically in charge of it except for the first few weeks, and they have to answer to the upperclassmen if the fish are screwing up more than normal. i'm guessing from the posts its not like that at the academy?

It used to be. 2007 and 2008 are backwards due to many changes that happened. In my squad, the 3 digs have taken the responsibility, and next year I feel 2010 will be doing a lot of 2011's training (I know I will). But yes, similar situation here.

It varies by squad. 1st semester it was 2 and 3 digs doing training. Now, it is firsties and 3 digs...2 digs like to jump in on beat sessions though.

This thread has been dead for a year, but its got a ton of information in it that 2012/2013 may find useful. Live thread, live!
