Could someone just tell me what you think my chances of getting accepted are? Last year in 6th grade, I was a middle school spelling bee participant (the only 6th grader to make it in that year), had somewhere between a 3.5-4.0 all year, started band and loved it!!! I caught up to most of the band REALLY fast! I play clarinet. That’s pretty much it i think for 6th grade lol! In 7th grade this year, I got second in the middle school spelling bee, a drawing chosen to be entered in a local art show (I scored $10!!! ), had 3.something-over-five the first trimester, and 4.0’s the last two. I tried to be more active by joining track (ended up fracturing my arm) and got a physical fitness award at the end of the year and still have no idea what I did to deserve THAT! Lol I did a solo (Class C since it was my second year in band) and got a 1, and me and my flute-player buddy did a duet and we also got a 1. In 8th grade, my band director thinks three of us clarinetists should do a Class A trio for solo ensemble (I’ll probably get the 3rd part, but its still Class A! )I got nothing but good comments on my book reports that we did every month (except for the oral portion, I always got a B or -A), I was in Advanced Math which was the only advanced class offered in 7th grade. I go to youth group every week, and whenever they are working on something, likd most recently making decorations for VBS, I help painting because I love painting! I help with other stuff too, but when they need painters, I’m first to sign up! Next year I’m going to join Art+ and probably student council and yearbook. I don’t go completely overboard joining things just so I can put it on an application in a few years, but I do what I like and get good grades and I’m a bit of a perfectionist at those things.

@CEECEE777: Your post #21 belongs in the Chances forum–where no one can actually predict your odds of admission. Present your best self and apply to schools where your grades and test scores fall neatly into the average or above. If you go through the archives here, especially after March 10 in any year, you will see how unpredictable the results can be. Focus on crafting a good list of schools that you would be happy to attend and for which you bring something to their community and don’t waste any time worrying about chances.

I believe it can include book reports, but if you have any other papers I would strongly recommend you submit that one. A formal essay paper would be best. And ChoatieMom is right. I can’t tell you how likely you are as I am no where need qualified; I’m just a student :). Don’t take anyones word either as they probably aren’t A/O’s. Admissions are extremely unpredictable. Just try to do your best and be yourself during the interview.

And keep the questions coming I’m on this forum to answer questions for students like you :)

You can probably take all 3 of those things, but it might be hard to fit them all in your schedule at the same time. Art courses are during the day, so that’ll fit if you aren’t taking any other elective. (You can only take 6 classes, counting your core classes, per term) Each musical ensemble meets twice a week for 1.5 hours. Ballet isn’t offered as a sport, but I think you can go somewhere else to do it, and it’ll count towards your requirement. I think. Maybe.
