Hey people! So as decisions are being released today and into the next few months I wanted to be able to give you an opportunity to ask questions about Pepperdine who already goes here and can give you an honest answer! Please ask if you have any questions about the school!
1.) is there much to do on the pepp campus?
2.) is it bad to not have a car?
-
there are about 20% more girls then guys. Is this blatantly obvious? Does this effect dating?
-
what’s your favorite thing to do at/around Malibu?
When you were accepted, did you receive a scholarship email right away?
Did you know anyone who studied Computer Science? If so, how was it?
-
What is the campus life like?
-
Would you say the student body is diverse?
-
Is it nice having smaller class sizes?
-
What’s your favorite thing about Pepperdine?
Yes! there are so many things to do on campus, the Board host events almost every week, along with various activities put on by student groups.
Depending on wether you have friends with a car or not, it really isn’t that big of a deal. Not having a car has never stopped me from doing something that I wanted to do. You just have to befriend and socialize with people with cars
At Times the girl to guy ratio is more obvious than others. The dating on Pepperdine campus is viewed as pretty weird anyway, but i think that attests more to the fact that it is a Christian school rather than the ratio. (also plz note that there are all different types of relationships, I and am sure I probably have a biased view of them.)
Whenever I can I love to go to the beach, Hang out at Sunlife, and go on hikes in the Malibu area.
No, the scholarship emails came about a week later if I remember correctly, which I very well may not. They definitely came later though.
Yes, I know a few comp sci majors and they love the program here!
The campus life here is very social. It is hard to walk anywhere on campus without seeing someone you know, which I personally love. Greek life is very friendly to each other and not exclusive at all, but that is biased coming from someone who is in greek life. That being said, if you are willing to put yourself out there, you will find a community where you feel supported and encouraged.
Again, this is a tough question to answer. Race wise, Pepperdine is not the most diverse school, however it is making great efforts change that. However, you will find a vast variety of personalities on this campus. There is not a stereotypical Pepperdine student.
I love my smaller classes. While I am still in plenty of GEs, my favorite classes have been when we have gotten to know the teachers and everyone else in the class so well, because the class setting is so intimate.
This is the easiest question to answer. My favorite thing about Pepperdine is by far the people. I think that when you seek out friendships here, you will find that they are so much more real, raw, and authentic than those at another school. The community I have found has been incredible, And there are so many friends I know I have made for life.
What types of classes did you take your sophomore and junior year? Ex: AP, IB, honors?
Also when applying did Pepperdine see your highschool transcript for all four years?
I recently got into pepperdine! How good is this university for business major? Please reply and thank you!
Yes, they see your transcript for all four years. and my sophomore and junior year I was in PreAP world History, Pre AP chem, Pre AP english, and my junior year I took AP English and AP US history. My advice is to not overwhelm yourself. Pick the advanced classes you know you can succeed in, and are interested in, and balance your time well.
And the business major is great here. It is one of the most popular majors, and has a great program for both grad and undergrad.
Thanks for your responses, @costaricagirl22. Can you elaborate on the dating scene at Pepperdine? I understand the religion aspect, but surely there are students who date? How is the food on campus? I see that vegetarian options are offered as my daughter is one.
Thank you!
Hi! I can’t wait to be going to pepp next year!! I just had a question about the visitation policy, I know it says no males in the dorms past 1 AM or the lobby past 2 AM- but with the 6 guests you are allowed to have stay in your dorm per semester can they be male? Thanks in advance!
What would you say you definitely need for a Pepperdine dorm room, and what would you say we could skip?
Questions about Greek Life- is it very competetive? Do most of the girls go through recruitment
The dating scene at Pepperdine I would say is taken a little more seriously than most schools. While you can find every type of relationship across the board, casual dating is less likely to happen here than a state school. That being said, I do have a bias toward the people I hang out with, and like I said, there are plenty of people who are in less committed relationships as well.
You have so much to be excited for! Males that visit have to stay in male dorms. Typically, you would just ask one of your guy friends if he could stay in his suite on a couch or something.
you will need to get a fan. While it does get colder during winters, there is no AC in the freshman dorms and it can get pretty hot during the day. There is very little stuff you need that you will not have access to. LEt me know if you have any further questions on this.
I am from the south, and it is surely not as competitive as it is there. While each year, the amount of girls who go through recruitment increase, and it is competitive, it is not a make or break social scene. Let meknow if you have any more questions about recruitment!
Hi @costaricagirl22, are you from CR? I’m tico and I’m considering Pepperdine as one of my main options. May I know what you studied there and what are your thoughts on that program? Pura vida!
Hello, I am considering applying to Pepperdine, and I was wondering what kind of research opportunities and academic life can one find there?
