I am applying to Yale early decision this fall. Everything I've seen and heard about Yale convinces me that it is a great fit for me, but unfortunately I live far away (Washington state) and my parents are unable to send me there for a visit before I apply. So, I'd like to hear some perspectives from people who have been to Yale, both for my own information and to help with the application process. I list a bunch of questions below, but if you would like to answer any of them, by all means do so! Thank you in advance for whatever feedback you have.

I am hoping to double major in English and theater. What can you tell me about these specific departments, and how would the double major process work at Yale?
What are Yales study abroad programs and how do they differ from those at other universities?
How is creativity and fun balanced with the academic rigor of the university?
How does the college work to make students feel welcome?
Is the general atmosphere competitive or more relaxed?
I read in the catalogue about writers-in-residence and writing tutors in the residential colleges. Can anyone tell me more about these?
I am interested in writing, so how easy is it to get involved with writing projects such as Yale Daily News or other publications?
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Yale?
