holy crap housing is a lot more expensive this year

can people in different colleges - marshall/muir for example - still dorm in the same room??

are the dorms nice...or are they just plain white..cause the new ones at berkeley are really nice!!

you can only dorm with ppl in your college... and the conditions of the dorms depend on which college you got into and which buliding you get housed in...

people in different colleges CANNOT dorm in the same room.

ERC has the nicest dorms by far (probably because they're the newest). Most of the other dorms don't compare.

edit: haha i was beat by a few seconds

i'm in marshall..i looked at the pictures on the website and it doesnt look that nice..it just looks all white and bare

hows warren?

Ok I have a question, how are the chicks?

dude. a double next year is going to cost more than a single this year? wth?? everything got raised $900....the quality of food isn't that great, and I doubt inflation is that high. housing already made a crapload sticking people in plus one rooms this year, why are they out to get us?

I have a single and I think it's much better than a double or triple, even considering the extra cost.

jakesrevenge1: You can find the floorplans of the dorms of all colleges on the housing website somewhere. Singles, though smaller, are more spacious than doubles because you have fewer people and fewer things.

Actually, there is an intercollege housing program that allows people in different colleges to room together. I don't know the details, but I think around 100 people are in it.

Is housing priority based on 1st come 1st serve basis?

housing priority is based on how early you turn in your application (which you already received in an email)

^ I see. Thanks.

do you guys think i will get stuck with a triple if i choose to get a double in erc?
i submitted my housing app a few hours after i got admitted. i REALLY do not want a triple.

^ you should be fine with getting the double then.

i turned in my housing application a few weeks after i got admitted...i asked for a SINGLE and got stuck in a TRIPLE! hahaha. oh well; you get used to it.

I didn't know housing was first come first serve. Oops. Do they wait until they get your SIR before putting you "in line" for housing, or is the order just based on when you send the housing app in?

i would never live in a single simply cuz 8/10 times they're just isolated from the rest of the suite and yea, but it depends on the type of person they are too. my single guy is nice enough but hes not really part of the suite at all. and plus in erc one of the singles is all the way at the end of the hall where nobody just tends to walk by. i don't know its up to you but i have a double and its great. singles would get too depressing..

Housing is not necessarily first come, first serve. For example, in Warren, the date you send your housing application determines whether you get your first choice between res halls and apartments. However, a lottery determines whether you get your first choice of a triple or single.

^
hmm...interesting. I didn't know that.

hiker:
order is based on when you send in your housing application; it really has nothing to do with when you send in your SIR

if there's anyone here who's korean and wants a roommate, pm me. all my friends are going to berkeley or ucla and i don't know anyone who got into sd. i also don't want to end up with some psycho roommate.
