Questions for current students.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently a freshman transferring to Albany in Fall 2012. I had a few questions and was hoping current students attending Albany can answer?

1) How is the business program?
2) Is it easy to get internships?
3) Is Albany's campus THAT boring to look at?
4) How is the surrounding town?
5) How is financial aid?
6) How is housing/Dining (Preferable if a transfer student answers the housing part)
7) Speedtest? [http://www.speedtest.net][/url]

Thank you!

It’s a great program and it’s also expanding. They are currently building a brand new state of the art business building on campus. It will be finished sometime next year I believe.

Yes very easy. There are a ton available and the Career Services department is more then helpful finding you one and helping you to get it. A lot of alumni offer internships to current students as well.

No, people say the campus is boring to look at because of all the concrete but it really is beautiful. Especially in warmer weather. There are multiple fountains and fields and the campus at night looks awesome with the four towers lit up.

Albany is an awesome college town. Theres plenty to do. The mall and walmart are just one quick free bus ride away. And theres a ton to do downtown and students can take the bus for free when they want to travel. Theres a ton of concerts to and always things happening down near the capital.

Don’t know much about this, didn’t qualify for financial aid.

Housing is nice. You can live on a low rise (3 floor buildings) or in a tower (21 floors), so that just depends on what you prefer. The meal plan gets you unlimited meals in the dining halls so you can eat as many times a day as you want. And then there sushi/pizza/subs/etc. in the campus center. Transfer students might have to live on the downtown campus but thats only a 5 minute bus ride and living downtown will put you closer to a lot more.

Hey I am also considering the business program at Albany. How is placement and recruiting for accounting majors?

Not sure about placement, I just know it’s a great program. You can find out more info on the website: [School of Business, University at Albany, SUNY](School of Business | University at Albany)

I have a few friends that are accounting majors and they like it. They say the classes are really good. And theres also an Accounting Fraternity if that interests you.
