You are a wealth of info for FSU. MY son is applying this summer. We are from NYC area. We have visited UF but didnt make to FSU yet. although from what I read Talahasse sounds like another option. WE would like to visit in july. Here are a few questions if you can provide insight will be much appreciated.

do you know anyoneone who pursued the real estate tack within the business school? what about finance ?

WHat do you think is realistic profile for incoming freshmen admission?

Does FSU have a summer B option? (some at UF have told us this offers advantage for admission and adjustment to college life)?

Is the greek life strong?

what is the best freshmen dorm?

ANd of course how does the football team look for upcoming season

I don't know anyone personally who has taken the real estate curriculum at the FSU College of Business. However, the FSU CoB is generally excellent, and Real Estate is nationally rated. It and UF's CoB are the best in Florida if you believe the [ratings. Finance is also a good department.

FSU has several summer sessions. Admissions would be the place to check for requirements and which session would be available for your son. Here are some grade/score guidelines](http://fsu.edu/highlights/rankings.html#bus) for admission. Out of state students are held to higher standards.

Greek life is very strong.

The best dorm for freshmen...is probably one of the renovated dorms on the east side of campus: Gilchrist, Landis, Reynolds, Bryan, etc. Both my daughters lived on the east side as freshmen and loved it.

Football looks EXCELLENT this year. :) We have season tickets and everything has changed. Everyone is energized and ready. Recruiting is going at an unprecedented rate. FSU will be back starting this year.

Check out FSU's Wikipedia entry for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_State_University

Regarding the summer sessions, most of the kids who apply for summer admission (as opposed to Fall), are applying for the summer C session which is 6 weeks long. For this summer 2007 it runs from June 25th-August 3rd. During this time the students usually take two classes (6 credits total). My DD will be applying this summer for summer 2008 admission. Many instate kids do this because A)they are required to do at least 9 credits during the summer if they enter a public Florida college with less than 9 credits (AP, dual enroll. etc). and B)the whole freshman experience is a bit less overwelming in the summer when the school's total population is smaller. I was told that it does not give you an advantage toward admission however I do know of some kids who had applied for Fall admission but were admitted for summer instead so...

On dorms: in addition to the dorms that Parent2noles mentioned, there are two brand new dorms, Wildwood and Degraff, that are opening in Fall 2007 for primarily Freshman. They are suite style (two doubles share a bathroom) and will house about 700 kids each.

Greek Life: about 15-20% of the kids join the frats and sororities. The three kids that I know that are at FSU are all into the greek life and love it.

Thanks this is very helpful. ( my husband posted)
Do the freshman have difficulty getting tickets to the football game?
Are they any "must take- regardless of major" classes or professors?

There was no problem getting tickets for football games for freshmen.
