Well I'm thinking of petitioning Chem 20, but I don't really understand how that works. Also, it turns out I can't even take Eng Comp 3 because I didn't fulfill any of the entry level requirements... Anyone have any info how that test you have to take is like?

(looks like everything you would want to know about the test)

i didn't have to take it but i hear from others that you read a passage and write an essay response to it.

ugh...... last year it was smething about a house and people not wanting to move. i said they were dumb. i passed.

sad thing is: i know people who didn't. :(

zomg me too!!

and i thought my engrish was fantastic

[troll]Yeah, you.[/troll]

Crap, does that mean the test was hard or did they just suck at english lol

Well...I don't know...the majority said it was an easy test. Some got unlucky?

for petitioning, err I don't know how it works, but it said to obtain petition form in 6426 Boelter Hall

i think so,

its not as bad as wonder horse though.

Chem 20a - I got a 5 on AP chem but apparently it doesn't help me at all credits-wise
Math 32A - Am I allowed to skip 31B? I'm taking Calculus B/C right now.
Physics 1A - Low demand is good.
Comp Sci 31 - Apparently passing the Comp Sci AB AP test doesn't help either.

Question about Eng Comp 3 - Is it offered in the summer by any chance?

Assuming you are a prospective engineering major, and are willing to work hard, then you will be fine. (Study daily)

It is wise to skip to Math 32A if you were competent in Calculus AB and BC.\
It is also wise to skip Chemistry 20A, unless you are on to any Chemistry related path.

Computer Science will be time consuming, even if you have prior knowledge of C++. I estimate about 6-10 hours of work per week. If you don't know any computer science, then I recommend you to drop one of these four courses.

English Composition 3 should be high on your priority list - if you enroll in this with an easy professor, then you should have minimal work.

Skip Math 32A? I thought skipping Math 31B was already a stretch, am I actually allowed to skip 32A? Will I receive credits for skipped classes?

Comp Sci, I absolutely hate it right now. I'm taking Comp Sci AB at school right now, is that going to help?

I think I mentioned before that I didn't even meet the entry writing requirements yet, so I don't think I can sign up for Eng Comp 3 in fall anyway.

What exactly do you need for a petition anyway? Some proof that you are proficient in the class?

I wrote "skip TO Math 32A", which means skip 31A and 31B. You will receive the units for skipped classes.

Since you hate CS, I would recommend you to drop one of your planned courses. Passing AP CS might give you units (not sure), but it's in Java, and CS31 is in C++. A background would definitely help, but you still will spend lots of time on the projects.

If you didn't meet the entry writing requirements, then you will have to take English Composition 2 I believe. Not totally sure about your situation, but maybe another poster can clarify that.

For a petition, you will need to fill out a form from the department of the class you are petitioning. For expample, petitioning out of 20A requires you to fill the form out from the Chemistry building (Young, 1st or 2nd floor). Obviously, you need to be qualified for the petition to be accepted, and all your information from testing is on the DPR.

Sorry about that, I'm just being careless today in reading lol

So would 2 As in Chem AP and a 5 on the AP test give me a good chance to skip Chem 20A?

but why would you want to skip 20a? i don't understand...

Your high school grades will not affect your chances in petition, but will point you in the right decision.

You will need a 4 or 5 I believe to QUALIFY to petition out of 20A. My recommendation is though, you should have 2 As in AP Chemistry, 5 on the AP Test, and not be in any chemistry-related engineering major to be in the position to skip.

Of course, you have the choice: you can choose to take Quantum Chemistry and get an easy A or B, or choose to skip to Energetics and be 4 units closer to graduation.

Let me know once you're closer to enrolling in classes about your decision or need more information.

If I follow by the school of theater/film GE requirements, is there a math requirement. I was looking at the list, and I didn't see any, but I could be mistaken.
