Questions from a potential Bruin freshmen

Plazas are not always private bath... but yeah they are the best. A perfect balance between suites (quiet, spacious, antisocial) and residence halls (noisy, no privacy, social).

Oh yeah I forgot about the Rieber plazas... shared bath in that case (where two adjacent rooms share).

-Everyone's favorite DeNeve-izen

Not only Rieber, b ut also parts of Summit and Sunset, denevizen

I'm doing EE.

"Chemistry and Biochemistry 20A; Computer Science 31, 32; Electrical Engineering 1, 2, 3, 10, M16 (or Computer Science M51A); Mathematics 31A, 31B, 32A, 32B, 33A, 33B; Physics 1A, 1B, 4AL, 4BL."

So looks like I have two high demand classes. Is this enough to to warrant going to an early orientation?

Yeah I mentioned that I am also doing EE, and wowx brought up a good question. What are some other high demand classes for a first quarter freshmen doing EE? I'm going to try my best to sign up for classes first, but I just want some clue as to what I should make my first priorities.

Go to the earliest session you can. Barring scheduling conflicts, I don't see why else you would want to go to a late orientation.

if all else fails you can just spend your first quarter on GEs. go here: http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/GE/ and the GE reqs for every school are listed. you can choose from a whole ton of classes to satisfy them, so it's a good backup if your major requirements are already filled up.
however, this should be a plan B, so try to go to an early orientation if you can ;)

earlier orientations are nice, first pick at classes. unless you do FSP, which I think designates a certain orientation.

for EE first quarter, pick a few of the following:
chem 20a (unless you petition out of it) - high demand in fall, low demand in winter
math whatever - ?? classes with good professors will go fast
comp sci 31 - I dunno about fall, but it was overenrolled in winter
eng comp 3 (unless you pass out of it) - high demand fall/winter
physics 1a - low demand fall quarter, high demand winter quarter

the suggested four-year plan is at the end of HSSEAS announcement

I'm thinking of picking-

Chem 20a - I got a 5 on AP chem but apparently it doesn't help me at all credits-wise
Math 32A - Am I allowed to skip 31B? I'm taking Calculus B/C right now.
Physics 1A - Low demand is good.
Comp Sci 31 - Apparently passing the Comp Sci AB AP test doesn't help either.

Question about Eng Comp 3 - Is it offered in the summer by any chance?

physics 1a - take with luca bertello. that man is my hero. and he's great to listen to and look at. :) i love him. the other day, he was like why are you so sad? and he gave me a hug. anyways, you dont have to sign up until the last minute.

chem 20a : i didn't even go to class (except for the 2 midterms and the final) and i got an a. everyone loves A's. get scerri (I TEACH LOGIC MOTHER****ER)

try to get english. haha you will be competing with me (i dropped it 1st quarter, and it's been full since)

also, my friend has a hookah in his room. they're apparently very common

.

Btw, where is it required that you have to take Eng Comp 3? I don't see it anywhere on the HSSEAS GEs.

everyone has to take it

it's a university requirement.

you can petition out of chem 20a

if you get a 5 on BC I think it'll give you credit for 31b and you take 32a

habibi's is 5-10 min walk

moldau, did you go to gagik's review sessions?

How exactly do you petition out of a class? And what are all of the university requirements?

killernago, if you are interested in doing Summer Sessions at UCLA, click here. Also, if you want to know what classes are offered during the sessions, click here and figure it out. (English Composition 3)

Google-search "University requirements UCLA" and find out.

Yeah I've looked at the HSSEAS GE requirements before. I'm confused as to if I should take Eng Comp 3 or not, because I don't see anywhere where it says it is required. Is it required for a different college or something and not HSSEAS?

Nevermind haha, I see it in the GE requirements for 2. Sorry about that.

emmeline, only the one before the final. he was funny, i learned that scerri is a loser lol

killernago...that's a hefty schedule for your first quarter. you might want to exchange one class for a filler GE to lighten the load. actually, you might just want to consider taking three classes only. it's recommended.
