I am beyond excited to be starting at Muhlenberg next fall, but I do have some questions that we’ve been speculating about on the freshman group chats and FB page…
- Difference between Prosser Annex and Main? I am a female so I can choose Brown but I'm leaning towards a coed dorm, and Walz seems to have filled up fast with ED kids. Is Prosser as bad as they say?
- How common is it for someone to double major? I was planning on minoring in Psychology but since Berg only has it as a major, it looks like I'll be double majoring.
- I studied Mandarin all 4 years of high school and plan on continuing in college, but I saw from the language department that they only have very beginner Mandarin courses. Does scoring high on the placement test waive the language requirement or would I have to start another language?
- And finally, the dreaded Phys Ed requirement!!!! How does that work? Can we opt to take a dance class, spin class, etc. or is it just like high school PE?
Congratulaions on your decision! My D also was accepted and is torn between Muhlenberg and one other LAC at the moment.
I encourage you to contact the admissions dept. and ask those questions. Maybe ask if they can put you in touch with one of their student tour guides to email or skype with, since you probalby would relate more to a current student. I afriad you’re not likely to find many current students on this site, and I’m sure you’d like answers to those questions!

Walz and Brown are probably a touch nicer but you will survive if you have to live freshman year in Prosser. Walz has those fancy a/c units that everyone needs for two weeks of the year! Double majors are very popular and definitely doable. I believe you can test out of the language requirement. And the dreaded PE requirement is a pass fail class on basic good eating and exercise habits. No problem with that either! If those are you only questions or concerns, I would say you are in great shape, congratulations and best of luck to you!
