I'm have almost finalized my college list, just a few more things to take care of.

Applying to:

Columbia University (1st choice)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
California Institute of Technology

University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
New Jersey Institute of Technology

However I am considering other OOS schools particularly in California (I love warm weather). I was attracted to the University of California - Los Angeles, due to its excellent physics programs, however cost is an issue and the UC schools are apparantly not very generous with OOS aid. Thus I am also considering the University of Southern California.

So how would you describe the financial aid availability from USC as compared to UCLA for OOS admissions (~100,000 annual income).

Does anyone know how the physics departments of USC and UCLA compare?

barring drastic changes to my situation, my list of schools is most likely fixed.

Hi guys!!
Im from spain and actually im in NYC for learning english because i want to do a master here. I will be here doing an english diploma for nine month because my english is not very good…and all people talk spanish here!!
so in my school the told me this universities:
Hunter college, Baruch college, NYU, Columbia, Manhattan college,…
But i dont know anything about those college or university…and i want to do a very good master on economics!!
so if someone could help me…i will be very grateful!!
greetings!

Snyder, what are your stats?

You’re right that UC’s aren’t good for F/A for OOS students. The UC F/A pledge is for in-state students only.

UIUC is generous with F/A to very low income (Federal Poverty Level).

Your family EFC is going to be probably around $25k, which means that’s how much your family is expected to contribute each year (Ivies will be different)

I don’t know any specifics about USC vs UCLA in regards to physics, but I’d guess USC is very strong, too.

I’m a Hispanic male
