Hi!
I’m a senior in HS planning to attend CC and hoping to transfer.
I just have a few questions regarding CC and it’s how it works.
I’m just going to be brief here:
How does college extracurriculars (clubs, organizations, etc.) work at CC? Are they even a thing?
I always wanted to study abroad, if I were to attend CC for 2 years, transfer - would I still have a chance to or would it be too late for me?
If I plan on transferring, is there anything else I should keep in mind?
If I plan on transferring, do the other colleges look at my HS grades?
I know a lot of this is pretty far away for me, but I just want to have something to go off of.
Thanks a plenty, J.
There are ECs if you want to participate. Check the Office of Student Life for a list of registered clubs and organizations. If you don’t find one that you like, you can start your own.
Some CCs have study abroad options, so check the website for information about that. How study abroad would work once you transfer would depend on the place you transfer to and how they use any credits earned while abroad.
Your CC should have a Transfer Advisor whose whole job is to help students find the best places to finish their educations. Find out who that person is, and get to know them early on. They can help you a lot.
Some colleges and universities will want your high school records and some won’t. You have to investigate each place separately. For the smoothest transfer experience, look at institutions that have formal articulation (guaranteed transfer) agreements with your CC. Provided you fulfill the requirements of the agreement, you will be admitted directly to the major that the agreement is for.
