Questions on Housing Chances

Hi,
I already applied for housing and everythign but since we have till april 30th to change preferences, I was wondering what some of my chances are for getting into these houses. Currently I have roomate as my most important prefference, and I put hall choice in the order of Hume, Beaty, and Springs. One of the ppl I put as roomate wasn't invited into honors but he applied anyways, so we figure he has a super small chance of getting in and therefore we would default back to beaty.

Now, I personally sent in my housing app on September 29th, but one of my roomates sent it in on November 15th, and since they take the latest dates, that's what I have to go by. We're trying to get a group of 4 in so that's why we only chose suite and appartment style dorms. So I was wondering if anyone knew what our chances would be of getting into beaty?

Also, does anyone know whether or not it's fairly simple to do a mutual swap? because we also considered the option of breaking our group into 2 groups of 2 (as one of my roomates applied in october), hope we both get the same hall, and then ask the other 2 people in our room we don't know to swap with our friends.

Beaty is extremely popular. Your chance is a lot better than your friend's, simply because you applied almost two months before him. Ya'll out to apply to somewhere like Jennings, Broward, Rawlings, etc. I think the people in charge of assignments would probably be more flexible with students trying to pair themselves up with friends in those dorms. I was thinking about applying to Beaty for awhile because the rooms are so nice, but when you visit UF, you realize that it's not as close to the center of campus as the other dorms are. It sort of reminds me of a jail as well.

well I visited campus for like the 3rd time last weekend to take a closer look at the dorms, and we actually ended up leaning more towards beaty since it was a lot closer than hume or springs. We don't particularly want to stay in a normal style dorm, but we might end up putting one as our third choice anyways just to make sure we get at least something we chose rather then being thrown into some random dorm cause all 3 choices were taken.

I would go with Beaty like you originally planned. I think you have a chance.

There is a "freeze" the 1st two weeks, so any rooming change can be difficult. Afterwards you can ask the senior clerk at the area desk about it. It should be too big of a deal but different areas might be more accommodating than others.

If I picked Beaty as my first choice and my top preference was hall, what are my chances of getting it if I sent in my housing application fee on September 10th?

I'm pretty sure you got it with that date, cause I called the Housing Office about November 15th and they said that was borderline

I picked Beaty for my D and registered for housing on September 28th so hopefully she gets in there too

----bump----

Is Hume strictly for members of the honors program?

Hume is only Honors in Fall and Spring, not Summer.

FYI: [UF Department of Housing and Residence Education Undergraduate Assignments - INCOMING STUDENTS: Facilities with little/no availability for incoming students](http://ufhousing-incoming.blogspot.com/2009/04/facilities-with-littleno-availability.html)

For those picking Murphree for fall, you should probably change your selection

I have a friend who will be a sophomore next year and applied for beaty and I think it was full. Not sure but I think your chances are pretty low. Try the Tolbert area, it’s close to everything, even though the dorms aren’t the nicest.
