Questions on SAT sending and early action

I have some questions that hopefully some of you can answer:

Do I have to send my test scores along with my application if I apply early action? Or can I say I took the ACT in november and will send the scores when it comes? Does it depend on each college? Like the University of Chicago accepts november ACT for early action, but I don't understand how they would include that in the admissions process since it comes so late?

If I get deferred from early action can I send new test scores to those colleges before regular admission?

On Collegeboard and the ACT website I have the option of sending scores to colleges now for no charge. Can I send these scores now and itll be filed so I dont have to send them later? If so, should I send them now, or wait till I get better ones to see which ones I should send?

For early action, do I need to tell my teachers to write their recommendations earlier?

Approximatly how many people apply for early action as compared to regular. Like for NYU, I know early decision is 2000 with 38% acceptance while regular is 24,000 with 30% acceptance. How about with early action (I know some schools may be different so just pick a school)

If the answers for these are different based on schools, here is my list of schools:
Boston U
DePaul U
Fordham U
Loyola U Chicago
New York U
Northeastern U
U Chicago
U Illinois Chicago
U Pittsburgh
U Wisconsin

I know I shouldn't make you guys do my research, so you don't really need to answer the specific school ones. I just thought if by chance some of you just knew, you could just mention whatever school you know's policies are.

THANKS!

Do I have to send my test scores along with my application if I apply early action? Or can I say I took the ACT in november and will send the scores when it comes? Does it depend on each college?

Yes, it depends on the college. Find out from each.

If I get deferred from early action can I send new test scores to those colleges before regular admission?

I would assume you can send new scores - you are considered with the regular admissions pool.

On Collegeboard and the ACT website I have the option of sending scores to colleges now for no charge. Can I send these scores now and itll be filed so I dont have to send them later? If so, should I send them now, or wait till I get better ones to see which ones I should send?

Yes, you can do it now. If your new scores are better you can send them as well and most of the schools will just consider the best.

For early action, do I need to tell my teachers to write their recommendations earlier?

Yes

Approximatly how many people apply for early action as compared to regular. Like for NYU, I know early decision is 2000 with 38% acceptance while regular is 24,000 with 30% acceptance. How about with early action (I know some schools may be different so just pick a school)

Look at the school’s common data set. Most schools publish it, some hide it. You can search for “Common data set <schoolname>” and probably find it. THere is also a thread on CC which lists some of the schools’ CDS locations.</schoolname>

Good luck!

Thanks!

So now I’m wondering if I should apply early action or not. I’m not doing early decision because I have three top choices that are all equal to me, but I want to get the most advantagous application I can. Would you recommend early action? I know its different for some colelges, but generally, should It help you for most?

I HIGHLY recommend early action for your own peace of mind. If you get accepted to good schools, it makes the long wait until April 1 much less stressful. If you get rejected or deferred, it tells you to maybe make some more realistic choices. Of course, get your application READY before you send it off early - if you can’t put it together early then it’s better to go regular.

I think some schools are friendlier to early action, but not much since it doesn’t give them a captive audience.
