Questions relating to ECs

How important is ECs to Penn? Do you have to have like a dozens of leadership roles or a lot of ECs to impress the adcom? Cos honestly Penn has been my dream for my whole life, but my ECs aren't great. I don't have many leadership roles or anything much though I participated in many activities through out highschool.

I'm quite confident about my academics, but my ECs are killing me. I'm very scared of being viewed as not all-rounded, etc. in the application process. Btw, I'm an international student so for me it is also harder to have many ECs like other US candidates. Will that help? Any advice???

As long as you show that you’re passionate about one or two things you should be fine.

Dawg, I just had freshman cross country and 3 years of service club if that makes you feel any better.

you’re not alone :P

Okay thanks! hope that the lack of leadership in ECs won’t kill my app.
And hope that my SAT scores are decent too!

From what I’ve heard, they’d rather that you do a few things passionately than have a huge list of activities that hardly mean anything. They know that you are not passionate about 12 clubs or some other ridiculous number of things that so many people put down. In other words, it’s quality over quantity. They want to know that you’ve made an impact on something.
