quick cal state ? PLEASE LOOK

hi

so i just submitted my sdsu app yesterday.

and am working on my cal poly slo app today.

anyways, i took math in middle school.
i took elemnertary algebra, and geometry, which count.

so i put both of them down for 8th grade. and i just estimated my grades.. also i put quarter instead of semester, because in ms we were on the quarter system.

I saw I only had 8 math credits though, and when I changed it to semester I had 10 credits.

does it really matter? or whats the proper way to do it?

A. should i guess my grade? or should i just say pass
B. should i put semester even though we got graded on the quarters, so it says 10 units of math?

please help!!

also if i did it wrong for the sdsu app that i already submitted is there anyway to change it?? or would it not matter and should i not worry about it?

thanks!!

please re-assure me that it doesnt make a difference for sdsu haha, but i think cal poly does look at course rigor. am i good for sdsu haha?? i already sent it in!!

also, for cal poly, which way should i do it?? thanks!!

bump, also i put down the courses from school: my highschool, even though they were my middle shcool. i think the shcool option os for kids who transferred high schools. am i all good still?

clarification:

I took math in high school. But I took “high school level” math classes when I was in middle school.

I took elementary algebra and geometry.

So, I put these both on my CSU application under A-G math. I put them both under 8th grade, even though one was in 7th grade, because the lowest option is 8th grade on the pull down menu. Is that right?

I kept it at my highschool, instead of changing schools to my middle school, I think the changing schools option is for changing highschool and is for high school transfer students, is thatright?

In middle school, we used the quarter system. Having both of those under quarter, I have 8 semesters of math overall. However, when I switched it to semester like all my other HS classes, it changed to 10. Which is what it should be? I already submitted my SDSU app with the by quarter with 8… What should I do here?

So, how should I go about this with my Cal Poly SLO app?

And if I messed up with my SDSU app, is there anyway to fix it? Or is it all good, and those small details won’t affect my SDSU at all, or was I actually correct the way I did it for SDSU?

Please help me out someone!

You do not put courses taken in middle school on your transcript. Get your transcript from the Counselors Office so you can stop guessing your grades. You need help with the application process, ask all your questions to your GC at school.

no, not on my transcript, but on the cal state application itself.

No classes taken in middle school on your application, no matter what level of math.

My DS applied and was accepted to both SDSU & Cal Poly SLO. He also took the same math classes as you in Middle School. He did list his two math classes on his application! He changed the school to __________ Middle School and reported the (actual) grades received as Semester Grades. They were also on the quarter system, however semester grades were also given on the report cards.

When you look at his actual final HS transcript, his Middle School Math classes do show up, with semester grades and no HS credit. Have you requested a copy of your HS transcript? The information may be on there. If not, you will either need to dig out a Middle School final report card, or contact them directly. However, you DO report HS math level courses taken in Middle School. You are correct in listing them both as 8th grade.

If you look at the detailed directions at CSU Mentor, the information is there - we had to really look for it last year, however you can find the step by step directions if you need to.

And again, don’t just guess at your grades  Good Luck on your applications!

Oh - and on your SDSU application (or any other applications that you have already submitted) you do need to inform them of the change! I think the directions are on their website, but I think you just need to e-mail admissions of the change if I remember correctly. My son had to make a change in his class schedule for his senior year and that is what we did. Worked out perfectly :-)

OP- Since you are getting conflicting information(we’re trying our best to help you) best ask the GC at your school. You have questions that need clearing up before you send in more applications. Good Luck.

Daisy is correct, but do go over your application with a counselor. DO NOT guess! When there is a discrepancy between the transcript and self reported grades, it is considered a lie on the part of the applicant and any acceptance will be rescinded.

Definitely student needs to check with HS. In our area when the kids take those classes in 7/8 grade middle school they are reported to the HS and show up on the HS transcript. Therefore they do go on the application. Obviously each school is different.

i figured it all out!!

im supposed to change it to MS. and then input my quarter grades, but since theres only two spots i put the other two i the summer section…

last question.

for GPA it says 10-12. include honors / ap weight in 12. however 12 semester 1 ends in january… so is the cal state AG gpa just 10-11 even though it says 10-12. the one i input onto the app… i only have 6 extra points. i can get 2 more if i could use my sernior APs as honors haha. im guessing its really just 10-11 on the GPA you input. help?
