What are some of the best and trusted scholarship websites available for high school students? Are there any specific scholarships coming up, specifically in CA?

The best scholarships for college are offered by the colleges themselves.

Do all universities offer scholarships? I am aiming for a public university so I do not know if they will have scholarships.

Google. Use Fastweb as a starter. But really, the best ones are offered by the colleges for their own students They “discount” to those students who fit their criteria for that. Not all colleges do offer scholarships, if you define that as merit aid. Can’t say every single one does offer money of any sort, but most all do. Don’t know one that does not in some form. Some colleges only give need based aid. It comes down to the individual schools however.

^^ One can use Fastweb as a starter, but from I’ve found out, Fastweb is pretty much a joke. I can’t tell you how many scholarships I’ve applied to for my D, and haven’t even got one response from any of them. I think Fastweb is just a way to get your information and sell it to others.

The schools offer the best aid.

My one son must have applied to a hundred scholarships. Probably more. All outside awards, some local, but he was not the top of the top, and got only one award that had some specific requirements. It was a small award, and they more than doubled it because those running it ended that scholarship and just emptied out what was there. But he did not even make minimum wage on the time he spent in this pursuit of outside awards. He did get quite a few merit awards from the colleges, none requiring special apps. The ones that did, he got nothing. They were competitive awards and long shots.
