ummm Ok so heres goes. I'm not giving up on Columbia at all but i really do not want to apply early decision there, get denied and then have guilt in my heart that I could've applied early to Amherst and get accepted as an additional Christmas gift (because you know early admissions come mid-Dec) But my plans thus far which I decided on the train is to apply early to Amherst college because I have a really good shot. Then when I graduate apply to either Yale or Columbia for graduate school.

Not that my grades are mediocre because they're way above that but the number of people that wants to get into Columbia is very high. The seats that are available are very scarce so0o0o0 Ya tu Sabe.

Not necessarily....Both are hard to get into in general but its easier for "ME" because I'm more affiliated with Amherst than Columbia. Though I spoke to tons of Columbia Reps....I did a Collegesummit program and stayed there over night so0o0o0.

no affiliated as in liek close to in relationships. when i mentioned that i did a program at amherst and slept in the dorms I consider myself more affiliated with it, meaning associated with and connected with

unregistered, well in all honesty thats not the sole reason i want to apply early for amherst, I just said im more affiliated. But I like that you're telling me to apply to Columbia because I seriously love Amherst but hate the suburban neighborhood with a passion.....no subways what so ever. no offense...................This is extremely hard for me

Agreed. If you want to go to Columbia, apply early. Doing a summer program on campus won't help you get into the respective college. You don't have a better chance because you stayed on campus.

I know I know. But look. Lets not forget how incredibly tough it is to get into Columbia. I wish I can show you guys my stats but its just too much stuff that I did, && I don't want to look like a braggart. So Anyway, I'm going to make up my mind before the end of August. I have my essay ready and already know what to expect from each school.

Amherst is not suburban. Do all city people think the only categories are urban, suburban, and rural? Blech. Amherst is in no way suburban, get that out of your head.

mistake......I meant rural...I always get those two setting confused. i don't think thats something to get enraged about. My point is that transitioning from New York to a town that looks like they do nothing but agriculture is very hard

You'll have a roughly equally tough time getting into Columbia vs. getting into Amherst. Apply ED to the one you like better--it sounds like that would be Columbia.

I know I know........its just scary...ummm lets not forget that early decsision is not a guaranteed acceptance! but anyway ill definitely go with columbia since you guys see it that way
