Tercero, Cuarto, or Segundo? Which one is the most sociable? Thanks!

I think Segundo has the most number of freshmen, but they all have at least 1,000 freshmen each. I’d say Segundo/Tercero are most sociable. Tercero has the largest halls, so you’ll have a wider number of people to meet; this increases your chances of finding people you click with. Segundo tends to have smaller floors, which makes it easier to create a tight-knit community if you click with your floor. Cuarto has suite style dorms, so you’ll get to know your suite mates really well, but meeting people on your floor can be difficult.

I personally ranked them Segundo>Tercero>Cuarto and was placed in Tercero. I really liked having a large floor, so it worked out for the best.

Here’s a quick run-through of how many residents are housed in each hall per residence area (for the upcoming school year, it seems like transfers only get the option to live in student apartments, based on the info on the website, so all the dorms are for freshmen now, instead of having a building set aside for transfers):

Segundo:
Alder, Bixby, Ryerson, Thompson, Gilmore, Malcolm, and Miller: ~200 students each, for a total of ~1400 students combined
Regan: 450 students (65 students per building; there’s 3 2-story buildings and 4 3-story buildings)
Total: 1,850 students

Tercerp
Campbell, Kearney, Laben, Potter, and Wall: ~ 200 students each (total: 1000)
Leach (all single-occupancy): 180 students (29 students in each building; there are 6 total)
Total: 1,180

Cuarto
Webster: ~265 students
Emerson: ~500 students (Emerson’s got the most students in a single building)
Thoreau: ~225 students
Total: 990

Like JeSuis said, Cuarto tends to be more difficult to make friends in, unless people on your floor bang on your door and invite you to dinner or to hang out (like what my floor did…or rather, the RA for my floor), or leave their doors wide open to indicate that anyone can come and crash.

I didn’t come to Davis as a freshman, but rather as a transfer. However, I do have experience with the Cuarto area (especially Webster Hall), so if you ever have questions about that area, you can ask me. :)
