<p>Is it required/highly recommended to take intro to econ. I hear this class really doesnt prepare you much for the econ sequence sophomore and is more of a grade deflater than anything else. Can anyone shed some light on this?</p>
<p>There’s basically three routes to the 200’s Econ Sequence i.e. the main major sequence:</p>
<p>I) You pass the placement test and take 200 in your first year;
II) You take Econ 198 (Intro to Micro) and then take 200 in your first year, afterwards;
III) You take 200 in your second year or beyond.</p>
<p>If you choose the third option, Econ 198 and 199, the intro classes, are essentially not required. “highly suggested” by the department, not required.</p>
