I'm planning to get a Hepatitis A and Meningitis shot this afternoon, but I was pretty drunk this morning. If I have alcohol in my system, will that affect the vaccination?

Ask your doctor/nurse or whoever is giving you the shot they will know.

If you are drunk in the morning and still have alcohol in your system in the afternoon, then you have a much bigger problem than your immunization question.

If you tell them you're still hung over, they may not give you the shot. They go through a series of questions to make sure you're up fit to have the shots. And that my be for the best, the meningitis is $90. You wouldn't want to put the time and money into it and have it not work.

youre messed up and u can still spell immunization and meningitis. solid

I just had all of mine. And because I'm 17 I had to get ten million it seemed. PPD to check for TB, chicken pox, tetanus, and meningitis. The nruse didn't ask me anything other than if I was pregnant. And then she told me not to get pregnant within the next 8 weeks because it severly messes up your baby.

Maybe it depend on where you get it. When I got mine at the Health Dept., the nurse asked me if I was sick (even a cold), if I had suffered any kind of serious injuries recently, when my last monthly cycle was, ect.

90 dollars for meningitis?? I got my shot today at my local Healthcare center and it was 14 dollars.

Yeah, $85 or $90, something like that. They didn't have it at my doctor's office.

Being that I work in a peds office I can offer the following

I would imagine you'd have to wait until you were sober to get the shot.

The meningitis vaccine seems to be in somewhat short supply everywhere. $85-$90 sounds about right for a clinic (I'm assumung insurance wouldn't cover that).

If you haven't had a tetnus shot for a few years, get your booster now. Not only will you be good against tetnus for 10 years, but the new one also protects against protussis, or whooping cough. I don't know if all doctors have this or not, but I got one in April. Make sure your most recent tetnus booster was long enough ago that you can get this one.

Meningitis is $14 if you go to the heatl dept and you're 18 or under. And tetanus hurts like a bltch. ugh my arm is so sore today. get them all done at once though. it's a lot better to get all of them done with.

Meningitis was free (covered by insurance), and if you're still drunk in the morning of course you're going to have alcohol in your system in the afternoon...it stays in your body for a while. But oh well, I would just call and ask before you even go there.

Hepatitis A is more for Intl Students and those planning to go abroad.

Shouldn't be a problem unless you're getting a blood test. The alchohol system causes you to bleed more.

We don't know yet if our insurance company will reimburse us or not. The Helth Dept. people said we could try, but some companies go for it and others don't.
