Quick Question About Personal Situation

I’m applying to mostly LACs.

As typical of most schools, I have the option of uploading a file describing a personal situation or “something not discussed in my application.”

I was wondering if I should speak about a family member’s addiction. It has NOT impacted me academically (high GPA), but it has been ongoing for a few years now and has definitely contributed to a hectic, unhealthy environment. My counselor said she mentioned it in her LOR, so I’m not sure if I should mention it here. Also, I mentioned taking care of this member as an Activity under the Extracurricular section as supervision took up a significant portion of my time after school.

Please urgently let me know, thank you.

I would not, since your GC mentioned it and you put the time spent in your app already. I think you want it known, but don’t want it to overwhelm the rest of your app.

I don’t think that this issue strictly speaking fits the definition of “something not discussed in my application.”

Thank you for your inputs. I won’t mention it. @DadTwoGirls @intparent

It’s already been mentioned. You don’t want to imply that it has crippled you in any way, merely that it was a bit of an issue.

Should this be at the top (#!) of my Activities section? I currently have it towards the bottom because I wouldn’t want the AO’s to have this linger in the back of their head from the start since the activities section is one of my first impressions?

THoughts?
