does Rice have a good pre-med program? and would it help when i need to get into medical school.

From what I understand, Rice has a pretty top-notch pre-med program, but, better than that, it has very solid research facilities, a.k.a. opportunity for students to get involved in some sweet research. Also, I believe upper level classes that may be advantageous to a pre-med student can be taken there.

so, I'd say, "yes." =)

Rice doesn't have a premed major, but it does have the Rice/Baylor program that you can apply to during your application process (not quite sure on the timing). It guarantees you acceptance to BCM if you maintain a certain GPA. Not too many people get into it per year, however, but if you do, you're pretty much set.

Other than that, Rice's close proximity to the Texas Medical Center is great for all that volunteer work, and the Rice name carries a decent amount of weight with Texas medical schools. But since you'd be in the most selective undergraduate university in Texas, the competition is tougher, meaning you could potentially end up with a lower GPA. Just keep that in mind.
