Quick Question

Hi everyone!

I am a high school junior and I will be taking my first SAT in January.
I was wondering if anyone would please give me advice as to how I can remain calm and confident on test day.

I am a very sanguine person and my Blue Book scores are pretty good (2150's-2230's), but I lack the confidence that I need on test days.
School exams do not matter to me; I don't even study for them and I get straight A's. I just care waayyy too much about the SAT.

On my PSAT this year, I got a 170, which was REALLY disappointing to me because I have studied really hard. I made simple mistakes. I know for a fact that my score definitely reflected on how I felt that day.
I was looking at the questions that I missed, and before I pressed the "Show Me the Answer" button, I answered the questions myself and got all of them (except for one) correct.
I guess I felt pressured by the most simple things and allowed them to drive me crazy.

Can someone please share how he/she maintained confidence on test day?
Thank you!

Don’t study excessively the day before. Review basic, general tips if you need to, but DO NOT CRAM in the last 24 hours beforehand.

Stay calm on the morning of the test and get on site early so you can settle your thoughts. Think optimistically and don’t let yourself get flustered.

If you’re making simple or careless mistakes, then you’re 1) rushing, 2) not checking your work, 3) in a panic, or 4) a mix of the above. Again, staying calm and not panicking is key.

If you’ve practiced and you like your practice scores, then you’ll probably replicate the same performance on test day. Your scores are not going to magically drop by a hundred points unless, of course, you panic, overthink, or second-guess yourself.

Good luck.

Thank you!
