Am I allowed to sort of.. preface my essay with a very short (two-sentence) excerpt from a book? It's an essay about what I find intellectually exciting or something....
thanks for your help. :)

Yes, I think so. Make clear that it's a citation though!

Are you applying to Stanford? :)

yes, I am :) I'm not sure how long it's supposed to be, though.... they said ten lines, but the quote I have already takes up 4 lines... that's not good. Do they have the actual forms up yet? I only saw the questions online.

You are allowed to do whatever you want. I would suggest crediting the author and not the book. It just looks better and more intellectual.
Like "Sam I am" - Dr. Suess not "Sam I am" - Green Eggs and Ham.

haha, explode we're in the same boat. I've already written the intellectual essay and I've no idea if it's too long (it probably is; 14 lines Arial 10)

HAHA. Mine's 24 lines arial 10! Oy. Since you've already written yours, do you want to read / critique my essay?

Yeah sure PM me.
Do you want read mine as well? (no pressure here, you don't have to do it if you don't want to)

p.s. I just found out that I've been lying (not on purpose though, my brain played a trick on me). I have 18 lines :(

yeah, I'll read it. :) PM me.

PM it to me, what's the topic again? (I'm not doing stanford)
