Quick Question

Here is an article from the requirements in the College of Letters and Science for psychology at UC Davis:

You must earn an overall transfer GPA of 2.80 or higher to be a competitive candidate for admission. An overall transfer GPA of 2.90 or higher is required to qualify for a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG).

At the end of my fall semester, my GPA dropped from a 3.09 to a 2.79. Will my admission be based on the 2.79 or will they be looking at my final transcript that I send after the spring semester? Not to mention, I also have a TAG with UC Davis. My counselor told me something about I will be receiving an acceptance letter from UC Davis as long as I fulfill the TAG requirements, but I am not sure about this. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

They will look at your 2.79. From the info you stated, you will no longer be eligible for TAG. Nor will you be considered as “competitive” since you don’t have a 2.80. They obviously won’t look at your Spring Grades since they will be releasing their decisions in a few weeks

that’s a pretty big fall…

Damn bro you got tranferitis way to soon.

FutureAggie, I concur with iHateCeltics. And don’t let the other posters get to you. If 2.8 is competitive, you are just a little less competitive – and only in terms of GPA. Make sure to keep your GPA high this semester, and if need be, appeal with that higher GPA.

more like unforseeableaggie!!! jk i visited the school and the campus is pretty bomb. i cant say the same about the girls. the parties were pretty raging though

Yeah, I know I messed up big time. I am currently retaking a class in which I received a D in last semester and my other classes are all A’s and B’s. After this last semester, my GPA is going to jump to a 3.1 or higher.

As far as my TAG goes, isn’t it still valid? I mean, yes, it did drop below 2.9, but shouldn’t they be checking it after my final transcript is received?

I’m not sure how TAG works. Maybe another TAG applicant can answer that.

I’m pretty sure they look at your final transcript for the tag.

“You had a UC-transferable GPA of XXX when your UC Davis TAG was signed. You must maintain a GPA of 2.90 or higher for all UC-transferable units taken prior to transfer enrollment.”

For TAG you need to maintain the required GPA until the last semester.
