Quick questions

I'm applying to college as an international and have some questions. (I'm using the Common App.)

1) Where should I put down that I attended a seminar?

2) In the 'activities' section, if I select grade 12, do I also need to select 'SO' (senior year?)

3) Should I put down my hobbies in the 'activities' section? If so, I've been playing chess since 1st grade, but I can't select any school year before 9th grade. Likewise, I don't have a position for playing chess, so should I leave that empty?

4) In the 'activities' section, how long should my sentences be? Should I avoid using the pronoun "I" and just write "did this and that"? Should I use the sign ";" between sentences or "-"?

Thanks!

1) I would put it under Additional Information.

2) No, you only select the numbers. The letters are for transfer students. SO is for Sophomore in college.

3) You could put something like “Chess Enthusiast”

4) I personally have used fragments… all my descriptions are too long to use complete sentences. I plan on elaborating in the “Additional Information” section, though.

4) Could you post an example of an activity description? I’m curious as to what punctuation marks you used.

Thanks.

at name of hospital; did this and that; received this and that; worked with this person and that person

Can anyone provide any other input? Is that even acceptable?

Where should I write that I gave a talk at a conference?

Our D is noting her experience speaking at conferences in the Additional Information section because there isn’t room in the Activities section for a full description. But, either of those places would be appropriate.
